About
The Legends at Geist consists of four neighborhoods, Haig Point, Quaker Ridge, Sawgrass, and Spyglass Hill that are named after legendary golf courses.
Haig Point is a private golf club and resort located on Daufuskie Island off the coast of South Carolina between Hilton Head and Savannah. It is rated in the top 100 of private golf courses in America. Native Americans inhabited Daufuskie Island for thousands of years. The Haig family purchased the island, which is still accessible only by ferry, in 1735 and established a large plantation there.
Quaker Ridge is a golf club established in 1915 located in Scarsdale, New York, just north of New York City. Quaker Ridge hosted the 1997 Walker Cup competition. Part of the lore of this golf course is that George Washington slept the night on October 28, 1776 under an old oak tree that still exists to the right of the 10th hole on the golf course.
Sawgrass is a golf club located in Jacksonville, Florida, and is home to the TPC, The Players Championship. This PGA tournament is famous for the 17th hole on the Stadium Course that features a par three where the green is on an island surrounded by water.
Spyglass Hill opened in 1966 and is one of the courses at the Pebble Beach golf complex located on the Monterey Peninsula in California. The Pebble Beach courses are famous for the holes bordering the Pacific Ocean. The holes at Spyglass Hill are named after characters in Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.
